The enigma on the Patapsco

An article on the MSN website reports that Men's Fitness magazine has named Baltimore the fittest city in America. This has the locals interviewed (discounting the mayor ) shaking their heads in disbelief. As for myself, I'd have to chime in with agreement after I was done blowing my beer out my nose in sudden, violent amusement.

"“I think it’s probably the most mis-fit city in America,” said Charisse Bailey as she dug into a typical Baltimore lunch: fried red snapper on thick white bread, with a side of french fries and a beer."

Of course, these reaction interviews were taken at the Lexington Market, an ancient maze of food and beer stalls where one may occasionally see a rat scurry across the aisle in search of dropped onion rings. We don't all have fried food and beer for lunch, but it seems appropriate at a city market, so that-or sushi and beer-is what I have when I go. Still, french fries with gravy will always out-sell salads in this town. You gotta wonder where they come up with this stuff...I wonder if the re-branders paid someone off?
