more lentils

This time tomato lentil curry. I have to do something with my container grown produce. The ugly spots get cut out of the yellow, cherry and big boy tomatoes and chopped up with a couple of hot peppers. The curry powder came from the same Indian grocer's on Eastern Avenue as the cumin...hot, hot! Top it with a dab of sour cream!

I suppose I will consider my efforts successful if there is a south facing glassed porch in my house, I have shows of my art work that get press and I have the leisure to paint and plant. Cooking is also on the list and definitely, a cool car. That runs.  

Oh, at last

Hubby may have done with Las Vegas and be home this week. I have been so lonely for his company, it sometimes feels like standing at the edge of an abyss....

life with out a car

A regular on my bus after only one week, I get greeted and made room for each morning. Then rubbernecking like a tourist, am astonished at all the new development next to the eighteenth century neighborhoods near the water by work. At home I have tackled more chores and am eating my way through the pantry, as much for economy as lack of transportation. I may as well adapt, the likely culprit in my motionless Saab is the alternator and it's not getting fixed anytime soon. It will just have to sit there collecting cat hair on its roof until I get paid.

So far, so good

The first week at my new place of employment has gone well, so far. My thoughts are not competing with air made thick by cursing nor with the water sparkling in the harbor out my windows. My files are viable. I'm still sorting out forms, protocals and dress codes, but this looks like a good job. Please wish me the best and include me in your blessings.

ain't it always so

Brand new week, brand new job...car wouldn't start. Bus late, but at least it came and went where I expected it to. AND! Little Ethanol Goatwax, I mean Professor Ethanol Goatwax has gotten engaged to be married! My job as Mother of the Bride is to provide the confetti! I suppose I will have to find myself a ruffled crepe dress in lavender.

Today is the day we light the candles in our personal Elvis shrines. What! You don't have one? Get your glue gun out! So little time remains!

Looking Ahead

Yesterday I was welcomed to my employment at the financial services company. I initialed the handbook, had my license scanned and filled out tax forms. The operations manager trotted me through the introductions on the processing floor, showing me the equipments. While my new workspace is again in a crowded room (and what's with that, anyway? I'm not looking forward to the flu season!), there are two real windows over my desk. Besides the gift of daylight, one looks west while the other looks south. Out the south facing window I can see the boats in the harbor, which is right across the street. While that's good Feng Shui, I find it as auspicious for my mental health, as the sills are deep enough for a few succulents to share the light with me.
