It may have a tacky black leather frame, but I nabbed the dusty mirror for the winter pepper palace I am building in the basement.

Yesterday after setting up and pouring concrete reefballs with the crew at school, the younger daughter and I went to the tiny toy shop by the stream at the end of the street. "I'm looking for a sinister laugh.", I told the young man behind the counter. He responded with a bone chilling imitation of Vincent Price. Then I explained that I had a Hidden Screamer and also a muti colored strobe for the Jack O Lantern as well as a motion activated strobe with a creepy giggle, but what I really need is an evil laugh I can rig into an artwork I'm making for a show next month. He had a variety of noises, "reboot", a cartoon spring effect and the old fashioned kitten-in-a-can, but no sinister laugh. He grabbed a shark shaped pencil topper with a recordable chip and made it cackle like a maniac. Then it was agreed that the best way to go was to get one in a greeting card elsewhere rather than dismantle the toy. Perhaps I'll take the chip to the shop to record the young man. On the walk home the teen (with a new monocle) and I envied him his job.

Normally I'd get a little peeved at a driver taking two spaces to keep their precious ride from getting dinged by careless parkers on the lot at the grocery...but not for whomever set this Rolls Royce Silver Spur down in the 'hood. I think it's an '86.

The newspaper challenged us today to look around and send in images of what we see. It was a great day for dramatic light, and although I took this picture of a landscape painter on the Howard Street Bridge within the time constraints, I could not post this until now:

That Time of Year

I've started working on my Baker Artist Award projects. The upload is very slow, spotty and not "sticking", I suppose the server must be maxed out, though I'm in the first ten participants. I was able to change my representational work and upload one other, but that's it. Last year's nomination is still there, but backwards from the way I originally loaded it. The Maryland State Artist's registry has moved servers, too. My JPEGs were lost in transition, but the site isn't accepting uploads right now. I'm having trouble with other sites, but not all. There must be an outage somewhere.
