I attended an arts and music festival downtown. Tucked along the crafts booths sat a lady selling handmade and hand cut soaps. I was inspired to search for a cake resembling blue cheese. Not finding one closer than an imitation Brie, I have contacted a friend who works at a handmade soap shop and asked her to think about it. She is all over this like a cheap suit. Well yeah! Guess what I'm serving at my next show! (not)
Someone put a baseball cap
on their plastic light up lawn Jesus
And set him in a lawn chair
to relax on the porch
For the summer
like any other light up plastic hippie
Clutching a team pennant
and a beer mug.
The Preakness Race is being held today but with my car not working lately-fuel pump-it is a close to home day for me. We live close enough to the track to hear the helicopters and remind me that I wouldn't be so keen on attending, anyway. With impeccable timing, the hoity toity grocers around the corner held a festival of free samples this afternoon. I helped myself to grilled vegetables, salmon, pound cake and a heavenly walnut-fig spread on French bread bits. The marinated portebellas were terrific. Wine, beef and italian sausages were also on offer but I couldn't fit them in.
Pictured is this morning's view of the parking lot. For peppers about 20 store seedlings in the big pots to the rear and in the foreground, 70 or so of my own hatchlings awaiting transplant. We have only 4 scrabby survivors from last season and most of the kitchen herbs had to be replaced after the late winter flood.
