Driving from Paducah, KY to Baltimore MD, I decided to stop for the night in Charleston WV. Hubby found a deal and booked a non smoking room for me on line. After I picked up the key and a tub of ice I got to the room and then called the front desk. "Are you sure this a non-smoking room?" I asked, "it smells like cigarettes". The clerk offered to spray the room with deodorizer but not to move me. I declined, the spray being an additional gag factor. Looking around I noticed cigarette burns on the broken hot tub, the sink, the night table, the desk and chair, the carpet and the bedding. Close inspection revealed tiny blackened blood spatters on the bathroom walls. Out the window I saw young women in very casual attire wandering around the parking lot. Being late, I double locked the doors, cranked the fan unit and slept clothed on top on the bedspread. I left early. I wonder what the smoking rooms looked like.
