What a mindnumbingly frustrating day I've had! If anyone wants to find me, I'm going to the notorious Mt. Royal Tavern. Sorry, no suitable link is available. With any luck I'll be watching some else's stupid arguements....that's entertainment!

Psuedonyms

Those of you who know me by the name on my driver's license know also that I am constantly using false names. They change all the time but I tend to stay within a variation of an established pattern of initials and syllables. Although I don't have to sign in here at the farm, I do fax out numerous work orders and have, with our sister company, gotten "creative" signing them. F'instance, "marzipan" in the name blank and "almond paste" as a title. When I supervised college students they supplied me with hundreds. One of my all time favorites is "Mylar Giftwrap". One of the work orders I sent out a few months ago was shopped out to an out of state vendor, and got stuck in limbo. When the farmer called the company to see what happened to the order, they said they didn't know who had ordered it. (nonsense! our company name gets printed right on them!) Then I heard yelling and cursing from the next room..."Who the HELL is Maglite and what the f**k does it mean, halogen technology!?!" Well it turns out that file died on its own anyway, but needless to say I try not to turn into anyone else at work anymore. Sometimes I slip. The previous post references an attempt to get a verification from the wrong e-mail account.

Note to self: when trying to obtain legal documents by e-mail, use an account with one's legal name.

Making Progress

Between rainshowers yesterday evening, the 6 year old and I went on a mission: to get Grandma a chocolate milkshake. We were driving 'round the corner from the house and our progress was impeded by eight or nine middle schoolers on bicycles blocking the street. Rather than honk at them, I waited a bit, then said "excuse me", and was met with a flurry of hoots and admiring comments about the car, but they still were blocking traffic. One of them yelled at me to keep the car clean and I told him I try, but little boys make awful splats on the paint job when I hit them. They got out of our way in a right timely manner after that...we then procured for Mother a rather costly but genuine chocolate malted milkshake, but guess what? The car has no beverage holders. So much for keeping it clean. Mother, on the other hand, is progressing very well. She's already walking about on her new hip and she really loved what remained of the milkshake.

The farmer's wife is merrily driving a tractor about, willy nilly, at a break-neck speed. Hmmmm.....time to take my girls for a ride.

The girls

A few days ago, Miss Lis posted and hosted a lively discussion on the naming of one's mammary glands, which she usually refers to as "the girls". There were contributions such as "Thelma and Louise", "Lucy and Ethel", etc. My favorite was "Port and Starboard", posted by a pirate I probably know, but this got me to wondering what I would call my own set, familiarly and I drew a blank. Huh. I mean, sure all kinds of slang gets used, but names? I decided to ask Hubby, he's got an interest in them, right? What would he call them? Promptly and without looking up from the TV news he replied "Uday and Qusay".....

Hip Day

Yesterday my mother had hip replacement surgery, which went well and all the people at the hospital were very nice and helpful. This hospital is not a big place, rather, it is an arm of the megamedical institution which is the largest employer in Baltimore. This particular outfit specializes in orthopaedic surgery- when I went looking for Mother I happened on an entire room full of elderly ladies awaiting new hips. Hip day at Good Sam's. Now, after 22 years in art school, I appreciate the beauty and complexity of the pelvic structure, but how do they go in, yank it out and replace it without all the guts falling out?

Ow! My jaw still hurts from clenching my teeth all day Sunday.....

AGGRO

I've had enough aggrevation here at the farm for the day. Now I'm gonna get some in traffic on the way to the car dealership to get an air filter. They don't stock them at Pep boys or Salvo or any of the other auto parts stores I called, they don't stock them at Jiffylube so it dosn't get changed with the oil....grrr...

Chocolate

Ugh. I'm feeling out of sorts. It's muggy out, the cat has been misbehaving, software's buggy, can't get this problem file approved...and on and on. On top of all that, hubby insists we take the 6 year old to the chocolate themed amusement park in the next state. I detest amusement parks. I don't "do" rides, won't get into water that also contains children, and don't enjoy watching people involved in varying degrees of child abuse. (Don't we all think our parenting skills superior?) And after paying that outlandish entry fee, I am left to tag along in the heat for far too long watching those two stand in long lines. And why am I dragged into all this? For family togetherness...and don't tell me to console myself with chocolate, either! I don't like that brand. The only thing for it is to put up, shut up and make sure a cooler full of adult beverages is packed into the car.
