Instead of an old saggy mattress-on-the (raggy boxspring and) floor that poked in my back, this morning I arose from a brand new fancy spine supporting mattress-on-the-(new boxspring and)floor. Thanks, Hubby-wubby! That and fine silicates; pale citrines and some deep jades marked my birthday yesterday...there's a fresh spring to my step and a sparkle to my person today! There's also enough german chocolates to open a museum. But even better than all of that are the people in my life who love me and want me to be happy. And as for the new bed frame, well. I have to think about that. After all, I am advanced in my years and can't change my ways all at once.

Delayed Rebuttal

Look at this! They do fix potholes in Baltimore, Mr. President! Albeit rarely enough that it took me over a year to actually find them doing it (and another week or so to get my camera to talk to the computer after Hubby complained that I had too many imaging devices and did something to it)...I admit, after thousands of dollars of damage to my cars and time lost from work, I was as snidely critical as you were during your campaign vist about our city's street maintenance, but I assure you that a pothole crew exists. I saw them on Loch Raven Boulevard on the 8th. Really. Just don't ask me if I've ever seen a city snow plow on my street.

School's out

No school today for the tots in Baltimore, called in advance of a predicted 4-8 inches of snow. The news stations already have the round-the-clock storm coverage in place, adding to and exploiting the regional paranoia in the winter weather department. Perhaps I'll go out and get some bread and milk while the streets are still bare.

Full Moon-itis

I did a lot of boring stuff today and could launch into a drunken rant about it, but I'm not inebriated enough...though I'm working on it.

(Drove the kid to school, did bank, got ice, opened Molly's, went to work on files at the farm, home a bit, then a parent teacher conference with two reading specialists, then to get limes and cocktail sauce, got a ride back to Molly's with Lars 'cause my car got towed from the stupid parking job I did, took Hubby's car to pick up the kid and take her back to the bar so Hubby could drive us to the Fallsway lot to get my car and come home. And, oh! I planted a little cactus garden in a Bud Light window box!)

Several random thoughts and observations were free to cross my mental landscape today, liberated as I am for now from traffic reports listened to in business casual...noted again the amplification of squealing tires on an underpass's cement walls as someone took a u-turn right near. I was also pondering the call for advice from a friend whose wife is due triplets. Big Wow. Now I know why he put in a freezer. When I heard I was expecting twins, I left my umbrella at the doctor's office.My best advice is make friends with your hospital social worker now. Multi's maybe premature, and should any of your infants need curing in a box for a month or so, they are entitled to disability benefits. There are free developmental therapy programs from the state for children either born early or low weight. They came to the house, and the therapist always put a light in my day. Also; sew ruffles and pom poms onto a whole bunch of sleep suits so you have enough clown outfits. I'll be over with a pot of pesoles when you tell me when. And a six pack. And a pair of hands.

Presidents Day

When I started chronicling the adventures of Molly Goatwax, I had no idea it would lead me to so much cleaning! Another day of scouring, albeit in my loungey clothes, mopping to the big band sounds of the boomerang channel with the tot eating cheese toast and playing touch-screen-bat-a-fish at the public house. The next step would be the mens' room and I have fixated on visualized a particular shade of Wedgwood/sage green to paint the upper walls...

At about noon, the eight year old was invited to accompany a classmate on a museum visit in Washington, DC. When I dropped her off and asked when I should make the pick-up, the mother told me she would drive the tot home. In a panic, Hubby and I spent the next seven hours scouring the house. While Ms. Mom pretty much booted my kid out at the curb in the dark, I'm glad the bathroom got cleaned. Because, you never know who's going to be trotting through and making mental notes on the level of disarray in which their kid might land. I'm so tired.
