The Hunt

Because the rest of the banking world was on holiday, we could not get much work done at the mortgage factory and were unchained from our computers early. Feeling restless I took to the alleys, searching, as always for sightings of chairs by the side of the road and this season, shrub tubs in the recycle bins. My crawl netted five planters. So while it may be early for the rich people to start their spring landscaping, the fire station at Roland and Upland is always reliable in the discarded chair department.

On CNN I saw a photo of a group of Egyptian women in the crowd of revolutionaries. Proud and free in sunglasses and red shawls, I hope these young women are not headed for religious suppression in place of their previous woes.

Instant Bronchitis

The chest cold I have came in like a storm. Yesterday I had a sneeze and suddenly my voice sounded like Tom Waits'. My chest hurt. All my joints hurt. The cough is ugly. Today, propped up in the sun coming through the window and feeling my ears run from chipotles in my sandwich, I cherished the glow. Spring and healing are right around the corner.

Venues

I was sad to pick up my paintings from the Meredith Gallery yesterday as it is closing at the end of this month. It was grey and drizzly, a constant cold wet. I kept dropping battery operated tea lights for the Elvis Shrine on the marble steps. Terry and I looked across Charles Street to the scaffolding on Donna's. It was a bad year for art.
