I have a place in three shows coming up. One is an April Fools' show, another is a show called Bad Art-this is for April Fools' as well

The the third is a multimedia type event with world music. I'd better start framing.

I woke up with the sun in my windows and feeling quite optimistic. I have a lot of challenges but today I feel like I can face them with confidence.

Residency at A.I.R. Studio Paducah.

I have been honored by being selected by the Artist In Residence program in Paducah, Kentucky. This program offers the opportunity for intensive studio time to create a new body of work. The resources and environment of the residency mesh with the direction I;d like to take my art. The residence is situated in a converted bakery, with a large studio, an efficiency apartment and a storefront gallery in which to install my work in progress.;My work involves textures and patterns taken from the man-made environment. I combine many techniques, including rubbings, block prints, stamping and stenciling on many types of papers. These are combined in multiple layers and further worked with paints and pastels. Marigolds

I planted a couple of trays of marigold seeds, now sprouting. I put pots of them around the peppers for colour and to repel insects. My bartender needs a dozen or so because she has a problem with cats in her yard. Even if the marigolds have no noticeable effect except to set off the rods and cones in one's eyeballs, they are cheap and easy. Bring on the cheap and easy.

The Home Office, continued

Intermittent web outages were fixed this morning by the cable guy, who replaced the line from the pole to the house. Squirrels had been chewing on the wires. Squirrels. Why we can't have any nice things.
