I have special license plates on my Fiat, they have a wheelchair symbol on them, front and back. I had a temporary hang tag for the rear view mirror but someone broke my driver's side window and stole it. (I know-that's low, even for Baltimore.) the plates allow me free parking at all but a few metered spaces in town, plus rock star parking wherever I see the blue sign at the set aside spaces. A lot of drivers with neither the hang tag nor permanent plates park in these spots and now I take deep umbrage with otherwise able bodies taking "my" spot. I hope they get the hefty fines advertised on the signs. The other day I found a parking receipt tucked under my car's wiper. Someone was concerned that I would get a ticket and ponied up a couple of quarters to save me the grief, they thought. While it doesn't restore all my faith in humanity, it does give me the warm and fuzzies. Isn't that nice?
