I have been thinking and wondering about activism and what it takes, besides attend rallies and protests, to bring awareness and change? In this week's news there has been coverage about the rededication ceremony for our Billie Holiday monument's 30th anniversary of installation. Curiously, there was no mention of the artist who sculpted it. My friend, mentor and colleague James Earl Ried sued the city for not installing the pedestal he designed for it. He took another intellectual property case all the way to the Supreme Court and won! My hero! So I thought What Would an Activist do?
