A symphony of sirens

That was, and still is, quite the claxon of sirens and horns outside! Oh my, someone has been injured in a house fire! That was my first thought. Maybe I’ll see if it’s on the news in the next few days.

Kindness

Yesterday I was exiting on my floor in the tower and a lady on that landing lobby handed me a pint of delicious home made soup. Just a few hours later I went out to see if I could get to pharmacy across the street. Just barely. I was getting back and another lady asked me if my hands weren’t cold, didn’t I have gloves? I told her I did but not on me. She gave me a pair of lined leather gloves that appear to be brand new. “Perfect fit” she said, putting them on my red hands as my jaw dropped. So cozy, Wow! The world was blessed by kindness yesterday. I’m sure it remains so, I just don’t get out much.

Happiness and peace this Valentines Day! I love you all so much! Due to studio conditions I was unable to make a batch of valentines to send to you this year. It doesn’t mean I don’t love you and I will be working on another batch soon.

The long nightmare

Folks, yesterday my oncologist told me I am in remission. From two separate but concurrent stage 4s. She said it was rare for someone with this diagnosis to survive this long. I may not have mentioned here how severe it was, but I didn’t want this to turn into a boo boo cancer blog. I still can’t walk too well, I’ve got a long way to go. I’m more hopeful though, and things are looking up.

And I thought I had retired

Today on the Goatwax estate, it was “gimme my money” day on the phone. I’m due deposits and overages from my old rental, an app that sucks money from my bank account and another, both of which have made it unduly hard to unsubscribe and get a refund. I’m unpacking and trying to restock and organize. All this anxiety is wearying. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow.

Improvement

 I never thought I’d check myself into an old age home, but here I am all cozy and safe and with plenty of space in my senior tower of choice. My own kitchen, a tiny balcony, 4 closets, bath, bed and and living room. The process took almost a year but I waited it out and passed compliance for the HUD subsidy, smart mouth kept to a minimum. Best of all, the tower is sandwiched into the art school campus! Galleries, openings, a library, an art supply store and the notorious Mount Royal Tavern! Those stairs and dust in the old place, not to mention the lack of heating, were getting old.
